Getting Around in Paphos

One of the most important aspects of a good holiday is easy access to a good transportation. Even with good scenery, you won’t be able to enjoy your vacation if you’re going to walk long distances between tourist spots, right? Paphos is a great destination for your next vacation not only because of its wonderful views and the mere fact that UNESCO has included them on their World Cultural Heritage List but also because of the wide array of transportation modes you can benefit from especially for those on a tight budget.

Soon after your arrival at the Paphos International Airport, you can already choose your mode of transportation to your accommodation. There are some regular shuttles that depart after every scheduled arrival. Most charter flights taken by tourists have private minibuses to meet them and take them directly to their hotel accommodations. You can also choose to either rent a car from reputable international car rental companies or just ride the taxi and ask the driver to take you to your destination.

Most of the main tourist attractions are not far from each other and they can be within walking distances. However, you will need transportation while going around town to explore various restaurants or when you wanted to go on the seaside for that wonderful beach vacation experience.

The basic transportation you can have access in is the several buses going around the town of Paphos. The warm welcoming of the friendly drivers are comforting to every tourist, especially those who do not know how to explore around town. They can ask the friendly drivers to drop them off at the nearest location of their next destination, say for example the Byzantine Museum or the Tomb of the Kings. They can also ask the exact direction on how to get there after getting off the bus.

The buses all around Paphos is operated by Alepa and their schedule are always regular and reliable, except during popular festivals when the various parades are on the main streets. The main bus station can be found on the corner of Athinas and Thermopylon streets in the Ktima district.

There are a lot of taxis going around Paphos as well but the rates are not fixed. Before getting on the taxi, you should negotiate the exact fare to your next destination to avoid taxi drivers giving you a high fare price when you get there. The licensed taxis are mostly the priciest among them while the unlicensed ones offer the cheapest fare prices. Shared taxis operate like a shuttle and several tourist passengers can join together and pay the fare rate per passenger.

You can also join tourist services which arrange all kinds of enthralling guided tours and activities. However, these tourist services are not only limited in Paphos but they will explore the west coast region as a whole. If you wanted to experience more of Cyprus other than the town of Paphos, then this is the transportation mode to go with.
